Northstar Healthcare also specializes in Hepatitis C testing, care and treatment. Developments of new treatment of Hepatitis C is currently undergoing a resurgance for more information read Hepatitis physician Doctor Dan Berger's published article in the May/June 2012 issue of Positively Aware on Hepatitis treatment and Hepatitis care. New direct acting medications for Hepatitis C have recently become available and improve the success of clearing the virus while also shortening the duration of treatment. Sovaldi (sofosbuvir, Gilead Sciences) and Olysio (simeprevir, JNJ) have recently become FDA approved therapies for the treatment of Hepatitis C disease. Other agents are set to be approved later in 2014 and when used in combination will result in the first totally oral administered treatment cocktail. This is the start of a new chapter in HIV treatment history and the first to not require interferon, known for its' difficult side effects.

Because of the rising prevelance of Hepatitis C infection both in patients with pre-existing HIV infection, as well as patients who are infected only with Hepatitis C virus (mono-infection), Northstar has developed a specialized program dedicated to our patients with chronic hepatitis.
